“EXCELLENCE IN LYRIC WRITING” RULES AND GUIDELINES
The "Excellence In Lyric Writing" Scholarship has been established by songwriter/publisher Dave Clark.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
All registrants MAY enter the competition, including those in the Master Class. The cost is included in the registration, but participation is not required. No discount will be given to those choosing not to enter a lyric in the “Excellence In Lyric Writing” competition. The award for the winner of the “Excellence In Lyric Writing” competition is a free registration to next year’s Write About Jesus workshop. Lyrics for the “Excellence In Lyric Writing” competition should be turned in on 8 1/2 X 11 paper upon check-in on Thursday. The lyric may be the to the same song you are entering in the general competition, or it may be for a different song. Do not submit your only copy of the lyric. The lyric may be co-written. You co-writer does not have to be in attendance at the workshop. The lyric may not be co-written with anyone who is currently a staff songwriter or has been a staff songwriter at any publisher. The winner of the “Excellence In Lyric Writing” scholarship will be chosen by publisher/songwriter Dave Clark, sponsor of the scholarship. If the winning lyric is co-written, the writers will share the scholarship to next year’s workshop. The winning lyric will be announced at dinner on Saturday of the workshop. OTHER GUIDELINES Please do not submit songs which have won another songwriting competitions. Registrants should only enter a lyric which they have written. Do not submit a song written by someone who is unable to attend. Co-written songs are permitted in the competition. Co-writers do not have to be registered. If your co-writer is also a registrant at the workshop, you each may enter a song. Co-writers will only share in the scholarship if they are registered for the workshop. Please check with co-writers to make sure their writer status conforms to these guidelines. |
